Knife Gate Valves

Handwheel Knife Valves are used primarily where the valve will be operated infrequently and are generally either fully open or fully closed.

The simplest (and lowest cost) Handwheel Knife Gate Valves have a rising spindle handwheel actuator.
A threaded spindle is bolted to the top of the gate and runs in a threaded bush at the centre of the handwheel.
Turn the handwheel anti-clockwise and the spindle is screwed up through the handwheel pulling the gate up to open the valve.
Turn the handwheel clockwise and the spindle and gate are forced back down, closing the valve.
The handwheel itself does not move up & down.

Our VG Handwheel Knife Valves are produced with a stainless steel spindle, solid cast iron handwheel, bronze bush and a thick plated steel support plate. A solid design for years of trouble free operation.
In order to protect the spindle they also have a cover tube.
(Unusually this range is also available with Non Rising Actuator too.)
